Burns’ Night Surprise Book Launch!!
Andrew loved hosting annual Burns Nights where the gloom of dark late January nights were brightened up by raucous evenings of whisky, (veggie) haggis, poetry and laughter. And the tradition continues in his beloved library come dining room, courtesy of his wife Kate.
For Burns night 2026 Andy’s son David presented his family and friends with a very special surprise which had secretly been in the pipeline for months… a brand new beautiful cloth bound limited edition hardback release of Andrew’s anthology of poetry from the 1970s entitled Minor Saints and Fertile Soils.
As part of his Toast to the Immortal Memory, a traditional speech in honour of Robert Burns, David turned a narrative about famous old poets on it’s head by revealing that the bard in question was not Burns but in fact his father Andrew, and the toast finished with the unveiling of the new book and a selection of readings from it.
Initially only in a very small print run for friends and family, a larger run is on it’s way. The new book will be for sale exclusively from his own website here, however an e-book is coming out soon, downloadable through the site or purchasable from Amazon’s Kindle store.
